Michael G. Daisey is a fourth generation well driller. His
family has been in the water well industry since the 1940’s, when Mike’s
great-grandfather, Irvin J. Daisey, was driving wells for local residents in
the lower Sussex county area. His grandfather, Charles I. Daisey, built his
first driven rig in the early 1940’s, then in the late 1940’s he
built his first of 3 cable tool rigs. In the 1950’s he kept improving
his rigs. George I. Daisey, Mike’s father, grew up helping his dad, Charles
in the family business in the late 1950’s. His grandfather, Irvin, died
when George was a young boy, so he never got to work around him. George and
Charles worked together for many years, and built a top head drive mud rotary
rig to install plastic wells in 1980.

In May of 1985, George I. Daisey made the decision to go
into business for himself, so started “George I. Daisey and Son Well Drilling”.
George built his first rig based on a 3” x 4” picture in a well
drilling magazine, to get started with, since buying a rig was too expensive.
He did the designing, assembly and welding himself. Mike helped with some things.

Ten days later George was drilling his first well with his home-built rig, and
she is still in operation today with a few small modifications. He built it
on a trailer he made. About a year later he found and restored a 1973 1 ton
Chevy small bed truck; then upgraded to a 1976 C60 Chevy truck which he also
restored, and now she is on a 2001 Chevy truck.

George’s wife, Mary, helped
him at first with drilling the wells and hook-ups until his dream came true
to make it truly George I. Daisey and Son. The well drilling business was in
George’s blood, and Michael grew up helping his dad and grandfather, so
it’s in his blood, too. When the business had grown enough, Michael G.
Daisey came home and worked full-time in the business. When Mike became a certified,
licensed well driller, the name changed to “Daisey’s Well Drilling,
Inc.”

Mike has been to Gould’s Pump school at the New York
plant. He learned most from observing, listening, asking questions and “hands
on”, actual experience. Mike took over day-to-day operations in 1994 with
George passed away. Now Mike and (mom) Mary work side by side. The business
has grown from a father and son, to a mother and son operation with one employee.
Our motto is “We treat our customers the way we want to be treated”.
